Location
Beachcomber Lodge is located at Takara Springs, on the north east tip of Efate Island in the archipelago of Vanuatu.
Vanuatu’s capital Port Vila is 55 kilometres by the round island road, from Beachcomber Lodge.
Port Vila is serviced by international airlines from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Auckland, Noumea, and Nadi. Port Vila has a large choice of car rental operators. Other forms of transport are available such as local buses and taxis for hire from Port Vila.
For a breathtaking photographic opportunity, we suggest either a helicopter transfer or a light seaplane charter landing at our beach, allowing you to see the inaccessible interior of Efate island with a 10 minutes flight from Port Vila. We are delighted to make the necessary arrangements for your transfers from Port Vila to Beachcomber Lodge.
Accommodation
Our Beachfront apartments and Lodge rooms are positioned to enjoy striking tropical sunrises over the Coral Sea and panoramic vistas to twelve nearby outer islands, we offer privacy, seclusion and personalised service.
Our accommodation is modest, but spacious and comfortable. All rooms offer all the essential amenities; fan cooling, electricity (from our own generator), and hot and cold running water.
Activities
Lay in a hammock, read a book or just grab a drink from the bar, or scoop out the white jelly from a baby coconut. Maybe indulge in a fresh lobster caught by hand?
Explore the local indigenous village, collect washed up seashells from our 600 meter private beach or go for long walks down the coast. Its all here for you to explore at your own holiday pace.
TAKARA HOT MINERAL SPRINGS are renowned in the South Pacific for their relaxing and therapeutic properties. Our hot mineral pools are located right on the beach, and a perfect venue to relax after a hard day of lounging in hammocks, eating lobsters and peeling mangoes.
SNORKELLING : Beachcomber offers some of the closest snorkelling of any resort in Vanuatu, just walk metres from your apartment or the restaurant to explore the many wonders below the sea surface. Or snorkel amongst the turtles in one of Vanuatu’s top locations nearby Havanah Harbour (Tip: bring your snorkeling equipment, it will fit you better, and at your disposition when you need it). .
VILLAGES AND THE KAVA EXPERIENCE: Vanuatu’s culture can only truly be experienced by spending time in the local villages. Beachcomber is situated close to villages that welcome visitors, and love sharing traditional cooking, crafts and their lifestyle. you are welcome to spend time exploring the village or have the locals take you on walking tours of the surrounding area, they will often play there local ’string band’ music for you.
KITE SURFING: We have the ideal location for Kite Surfing enthousiasts, uncrowded, and vast spaces to take advantage of the prevalining Trade winds.
WORLD WAR II RELICS: Beachcomber resort is adjacent to the site of a major USA bomber base used during WWII. Visit some of the existing relics including the runway (still in use for light aircraft), aeroplane wreckage, the giant ’USA’ coral mounds, and the channel carved into the coral to allow the ships passage.
