Description
Rock Pool Bungalows is a 5 bungalow ’mini-resort’ perfect for a fun-filled and relaxing holiday for a couple or family and also ideal for small to medium groups (up to 20 people)to book out exclusively. Location
Positioned on approximately 3 acres (1.2 hectares) of oceanfront land and located 25 minutes drive from the main street of Port Vila, Rock Pools is totally private and very tranquil.
Accommodation
THE BUNGALOWS : The Garden View Bungalow is the largest of the bungalows and ideal for a family with younger children with its direct access to the grounds and gardens. Accommodates 2 - 5 people with a Queen size bed plus single bed and double bunks.
The 4 x Ocean Front Bungalows are positioned with direct ocean views and enjoy a refreshing sea breeze. Accommodates 2 - 3 people with Queen size bed plus single.
A group of 10 or more will have the exclusive use of five (5) spacious bungalows which can accommodate between 10 and 20 people. (The main house can also be available for groups of over 20.)
THE MAIN HOUSE : Accommodates our friendly Nivanuatu manager, Sala and his wife, Lei & sons Eric, Thomas & Vince. Guests are welcome to enjoy the large oceanview patio where we serve a delicious tropical breakfast. It’s a lovely place to relax for afternoon drinks and nibblies as well. Laundry with automatic washing machine and dryer is available to guests. The office, with internet connection, and kiosk (for munchies, forgotten essentials and souveniers) are also located in the main house.
The buildings have been perfectly positioned at the end of the property, down the long driveway, past the beautiful gardens and looking straight out to the blue, blue water of the Pacific Ocean. Wake up in the morning to the view of dolphin’s frolicking in the water right outside. The property is also known as "Dolphin Retreat" because of the pods of dolphins that play in the ocean each morning.
Dining & Entertainment
Vanuatu is famous for it’s juicy, tender Santo beef and ocean-fresh seafood. Whilst at Rock Pools, you can enjoy buffet barbeques, wonderful seafood, Melanesian Feasts and more.
Full buffet breakfast is served on the deck each morning at a cost of only AUD$10 per head and dinners in the Nakamal at night range from AUD$15-$25 head. Kids 5-12yrs are half price and under 5 eat FREE.
If you’re not out sight-seeing and want a lazy day around the swimming pool, we can offer sandwiches and burgers at AUD$5 each.
When you fancy a meal out, Port Vila has so many wonderful restaurants, cafes and pubs to choose from. The ‘garlic prawns’ at the Waterfront Bar & Grill are to die for and the American breakfast with fluffy pancakes & maple syrup at Jill’s Café will make your mouth water.
Our manager, Sala, is a local and can tell you all the best eating and watering holes around so you will definitely not go hungry whilst you’re in Vanuatu! (Remember, if you’re feeling peckish, you just have to walk out into the garden to pick yourself a pawpaw or a coconut – Enjoy!)
Activities
The grounds are landscaped with tropical shrubs and fruit trees. You can sit under the shade of a coconut palm and enjoy sweet and delicious paw paws or custard apples, soursop, avocadoes or try your hand at shelling a fresh coconut – the coconut milk is refreshing and delicious!
When it’s time to relax, take a dip in the inground swimming pool and then step out onto the man-made sand beach to lie on an sunlounger and work on your tan with the warm Pacific sun. Feeling more energetic? How about a game of volleyball or badminton in the garden, a hit of totem tennis or a ride down to the Sandy Cove beach on the bikes? If you’d rather just ‘veg’, there’s Scrabble and lots of other board games or maybe just an afternoon at the movies with some good DVDs.
And when you’re ready to party, stroll over to the Nakamal in the beautiful gardens and have a drink or 3! ’Nakamal’ means ‘meeting place’ in Bislama (Vanuatu’s native language) and, like a really big outdoor pergola, it’s the ideal spot for friends to eat, drink and be merry. Lots and lots of fun nights and early mornings have been had at ’Rock Pools’ in the Nakamal! If you’d like to party ’Vanuatu-style’, we can do a Melanesian Feast with Island String Band in the Nakamal so you don’t even have to leave home!
Diving
One of the best coral reefs on the island is right at our doorstep and you’ll be amazed by your very own ROCK POOL on the ocean’s edge. About 6m deep, the rock pool is crystal clear with the sun’s light and a wonderland of brightly coloured, fluorescent tropical fish swim in and out of the pool and through the caves below. Scuba divers come from all over to explore the underwater marine marvel. Take a cool and refreshing dip in the rock pool or just sit quietly and be mesmerized by the tropical aquarium within - the fluorescent tropical fish are awesome! When you want to snorkel, just walk down the steps, across the reef, jump in and enjoy!
