Description
The Havannah is Vanuatu’s newest tropical retreat for couples; a place where romance meets affordable luxury.
Six superbly appointed fares* (far-rays) line the waterfront of this natural sandy peninsuila in what is undoubtedly one of the South Pacific’s most beautiful natural settings.
The Havannah’s Point restaurant offers stunning 270 degree overwater views under its magnificent roof built by Ni Vanuatu craftsmen from bush timbers and local natagura thatch.
Location
The Havannah is located on the island of Efate, some 25 km North-west of the nation’s capital, Port Vila. Being sheltered from the predominant south easterly trade winds which account for much of Port Vila’s annual rainfall, the climate in the area is dry and the seas are generally calm offering a multitude of land and water-based activities.
The property is set on the stunningly beautiful white sand peninsuila of Samoa point. You will be mesmerized by the pristine marine and natural enviroment before you. Dugong, dolphins and turtle regularly frequent the area; you will be amazed at what you will see.
The location highlight however is the fact that it is at the doorstep to the South Pacific’s newest World Heritage site; The Chief Roi Mata Domain. Step back in time and visit this area of unique living culture. Day trip and tours can be arranged through the resort concierge.
Of further interest to movie buffs is the fact that the site was a filming location for the reality TV series Survivor.
Accommodation
Each fare has stunning sea views, with tropical island vistas wherever you look. The rooms are spacious, freestanding, air-conditioned, hosting a king sized bed and featuring a private infinity-edge plunge pool. (Some have spas.) European trained Chef Greg Pechan will devise daily menus using the freshest of local ingredients. A wide variety of top French, Australian and New Zealand wines, along with champagne of course, enhances the inspirational menu. Other adventurous activities include snorkelling and scuba diving, catamaran sailing, jet skiing and light tackle sports fishing. For the more culturally minded, there are tours of Chief Roimata’s Domain, the South Pacific’s most recently listed World Heritage Site, located on your door step. The area was also a base for American Catalina flying boats during the War in the Pacific ... Plenty of relics to fossick for!
